Part 3 HKMLC Smart Board, Elite 55 Inch Interactive WhiteBoard for Teachers and Homeschool Parents

Hi guys, it's Samantha from Activity Teer! Guess what? We are on to part three! If you want to continue to learn about how you can use this in your classroom, how you can use it as a homeschool parent, how you can use it as a business owner, or just a working person, let's go! Part three next. I want to insert another little fun thing that I do with my own kids at home: every morning before they go to school, we practice our CVC words. So, here's a little clip of us doing that.

CVC Word Practice

We're going to turn on the drawing tool, and I'm going to show you how we do our words in the morning. Okay, ready Asher? Let's do this one! What time does "m" make? "M" five? Good job! Okay, rer your turn. Come on over! Good job!

So, that's how we do our words every single morning. Okay, so I already touched on how we have Google Chrome on here, but I just really want to point that out again because I think it's really important to know that you don't have to just use apps from the App Store. I just opened Google Chrome. You can literally go to anything.

Accessing Resources via Google Chrome

I'm going to go to Teachers Pay Teachers, but I'm just going to type in TPT and search right here. Um, so it's going to take you to any website you want. So, we're going to click Teachers Pay Teachers, and I'm actually going to show you guys another awesome thing that you can do on TPT because I know a lot of teachers use TPT.

Utilizing Easel Activities

So, they have Easel, which I'm sure you're familiar with. It's where it makes like PDFs into drag and drop activities. So, I'm going to show you one of my own drag and drop activities that you can also use. Um, but I just want to show you that you can literally use anything on here. Drag and drop activities are honestly probably the best activities to do on a Smartboard. So, let's get into it.

So, I need to log in quick. One thing that I do want to note is that this keyboard is really useful, that you can just drag it anywhere because originally it was just down here and it was kind of getting in the way and my kids were just like clicking buttons, and so I like to put it up nice and high so they can't touch it and so that it's out of the way. Okay, so let me log in and then we'll go.

Okay, so here's an example of an Easel activity or honestly any kind of drag and drop activity that you want to do. Here's a fraction activity. So, here we have the students are practicing whole versus half. So, here we just have a full rectangle, so this is whole, and we'll just drag and drop. Then we have, let's find a half. Here's a half. Here's another hole. See how much fun this is? Like this is seriously really fun for students to just drag and drop things. Um, this is really awesome for students with disabilities, especially kidos who, um, like handwriting is hard for them or they need to do hand over hand. The Smartboard is seriously the way to go.

The Benefits of Drag and Drop Activities

Drag and drop activities are the way to go. Kiddos in wheelchairs, they can come over here and they can drag and drop. Like there, there is a way to include everybody in drag and drop activities. Let me show you another example. So, here is another fraction activity. Um, you can make it big, you can have it big, or you can have it small. I'm going to make it smaller so that we can see or zoom out so that we can see the whole thing. So, here we have 2/3. Let's drag the 2/3 up here. Here we have 1/4, so let's drag the 1/4 up there and so on. So, dragging and dropping is so much fun for your students. I promise, like if you're wondering if you need a Smartboard and you're a teacher, like this is the reason you need it because your students are going to learn so much from this. And if you're a homeschool mom, like yeah, this is very interactive. Your kids are going to learn. I, I don't have enough good things to say about teaching with a Smartboard because it's so much more interactive rather than just having your kids do worksheets. That's so boring. You might as well make it interactive. The way of the world is technology, so get with it.

Um, let's, let's keep going. Let's show you some more things that you can do as a teacher with your Smartboard.

"This or That" Activities

Okay, I'm going to show you some other ways to use the Smartboard as a teacher. This is just another activity that you can do with your students. So, this is "this or that." Basically students choose which one they like better. Do you like wearing mittens better, or do you like wearing a scarf better? So, if they like wearing mittens, they'll go to that side of the room. If they like wearing a scarf, they'll go to this side of the room. Then you just easily click to go to the next one. Do you like wearing blankets better, or do you like wearing a coat? It's just a fun, fun game to play with your students that get them up and moving in the classroom because we don't want them sitting all day. So, here's another great use for your Smartboard. You can find the link to this in the description of this article. I have a million "this or that" games, um, for every subject, all the math subjects. I have a ton of Work Readiness subjects too, um, and all the seasons of course too, so go check those out.

Let me show you some other ways to use your Smartboard. Okay, so here's how to get out of the screen. You'll just tap over here and then you can click here if you want to see all of the things that you have open. Um, let's just show you some of the Google Slides activities that I have. Um, let's X out of this.

So here are a literally, these are all Google Slides activities that you can use on your Smartboard specifically, all of these like these are all activities that I do with my students on my Smartboard. So many ideas, any worksheet you can think of, you can do on your Smartboard, trust me, and it makes it so much more interactive.

Creating with Canva

I'm hosting Thanksgiving this week, and so I made a little presentation on Canva. So, I'm going to go to my apps, so let's go back here and let's find Canva. There it is. I actually created a Thanksgiving activity for all of my guests on Thanksgiving, and I created it here on my Smartboard. It was so easy to make using Canva, which I'm sure you as a teacher, a lot of teachers are familiar with Canva. You can create presentations. You also could use the presentation app on this actual device, but here it is. Okay, so here's my little presentation. I'm so proud of it. It's a fun, um, actually Minute to Win It activities that we're going to be doing. So, I'm going to click the present button here and then present full screen, click the present button and here it is.

So, I'm, so when all of my guests arrive, this is actually what they're going to arrive to. This will be front and center by the door: Happy Thanksgiving from our family! And then I'm going to click to go to the next slide. So, after we're done eating, we're actually going to do some Minute to Win It games, so I made a whole slide on how to play minute to win it. So, like I just wanted to show you this because the versatility, like you can use this as a homeschool Mom, you can use this as a teacher, you can use this for get togethers with your family, you can use this as a business owner, like I make YouTube articles, I'm probably going to use this screen in the behind my camera as an outline so I can just look up and see what I'm going to present on next. There are so many ways you can use this. You can use this for Zoom meetings or any kind of work meetings you can have. You can actually connect your computer to this screen so you can have everybody up here on the screen. Um, I just, I could go on and on with all of the uses with a Smartboard. Like my life was definitely missing this. So anyways, here's my Minute to Win It game that I'm so proud of that I created. Um, here's just some ideas I guess if you want to play minute to win it.

So, oops, well here's our second game. It's candy corn hands. People are going to use cups on their hands and then they have to pick up as many candy corns as they can. Um, so it's just, it's going to be really fun. So definitely having this Smartboard is going to make all of my family gatherings and even my Gatherings with my friends and stuff it's going to be so much fun cuz I just love creating, and if you love creating then this is the Smartboard for you.

So all right, let's show you another way to use this Smartboard. I could come up with 4 million different ways for you to use this Smartboard, but I'm, I'm just going to show you a few more. We're going to scoot you back. The lighting keeps changing throughout this article. Okay, so to get out of it again, we go to these little arrows. Let's go here. Um, actually you know what, we're going to go to our apps and I'm going to show you so like I said I used Canva to create that, but you also can use this app on here that's already pre-downloaded onto your Smartboard and it is, let's see where it is. So, it's right here. It's the one that says hi and it says welcome. So here's where you can create your own presentation. So, it has some options. Look at this one. It's so cute: happy birthday! Just click that. There you go. When it's one of your students birthdays add their name, you can switch this around, you know, you can type and add their birthdays, you can change the colors, you can also add slides to it. This is so cute for the classroom or anything or like a celebration kind of like I said like Thanksgiving like just having something for people to walk into like it's a game Cher like so much fun. Add some fun to your life with this Smartboard.

Let's see some of the other templates. Um, we have this one, this welcome one. Again, you can change it, you can add text, um, you can make it bigger, you can make it smaller, make it bold, change the color. Let's change it to light purple. Make it go to the left, stay in the middle, go to the right and so on. So, it's basically just like PowerPoint, and honestly it's easier to use on a Smartboard. It's easier to create on this Smartboard than on my computer I've found so I'm really happy with this.

Practical Classroom Applications

I'm actually just going to list a few other ways that you can use this. So, if you want to, you can use this to take attendance. Like I like to have my students name on one side and then like if you're an elementary when I was teaching Elementary I would have students move their name to if they're hot lunch or cold lunch and then, um, the students that are left, those are obviously the students that are not there so it helps me take attendance way easier and also it helps me know lunch count. Also another way that I used this when I was a high school special education teacher I would have my cuz my Paris schedule they would change every single day based on what jobs my students were going to because we had a work experience program so if one student was going to work at the store today then one of the pars would need to go with them so I would have a list of all of the schedule changes on the board that would be up there every single day and Paris would actually take a picture of it so they knew their schedule changes for that day that was really really useful.

Exploring Pre-Downloaded Apps

Okay, now we're just going to go through some of the apps that are really useful as a teacher that I've already downloaded. Like I said Reading Eggs, love that one, but it does cost money, um, to have a subscription. Okay, next we have a timer. This is a game changer in special education to have this timer here. So, we'll just do 1 second so you can see what happens. Let's turn the Bell on so you can hear it. So, there's your timer. You can turn up and down your volume if that's too loud. Okay, so let's refresh it. You can make it so that it's a stopwatch too so you can click it and it'll start counting up for you. Let's move you in a little bit closer so you can see. So here it is counting up. So, this is a really cool tool when I'm teaching. This is actually always on my home screen always because I'm constantly using timers like for students I'll say okay you have five more minutes until PE time and we'll set a timer for 5 minutes and then when it goes off the students know that it's time to go so really really useful in any classroom of course I'm more experienced in Special Ed I know that this is a game changer having right on your Smartboard and easy to use I'm sure it's great in any classroom.

Okay, next things we have so we have Google Chrome so of course you can go to any website that your heart desires you can have students play games on it whatever so that's Google Chrome you all know how to use that then you have Gmail you have your own email app on here let's click that again so you have all your emails here and just like on your phone you can just simply use the Gmail app it was super easy to insert my information inform and to have my email ready to go. Okay, let's click more apps. Okay, I have some personal apps on here too like Paramount plus and Netflix like I can use this at home and watch Netflix and the the coolest thing ever so we have YouTube TV also like my husband was like oh I can't wait to have the football game up here on this TV and then this TV we're going to put another football game on it and I was like guess what we can also do a split screen so you can have two two football games here one football game there so you can have three total football games going and he's like what his mind was blown but anyways yeah total can use this for personal use you can use it like a TV you can use it as a computer like I said you can hook up your computer to this the list goes on and on. Okay, so you all know about Paramount plus and Netflix and all that kind of stuff so we won't go into that.

Educational Apps for Children

Um, just some fun apps that I downloaded, um, for my for my six-year-old actually because he's working on you know spelling different words and stuff he loves doing work searches. Okay, so this is the word search app. Um, let's see, let's find we have python so here it is python so this is really fun a great learning app would be great in the classroom great at home and just honestly fun to do anytime. Okay, that is the word search app let's go to a new one actually let's go here I'll go to the home app and home screen. Whoops, oh so I accidentally messed up here but I forgot to show you guys you can X Out of apps easily and you can also like move them around too if you want and you can do the same on when you click more apps you can do the same thing just hold it down and it'll ask you do you want to add it to the homepage do you want to clear the data do you want to uninstall it um so yeah basically like a phone really awesome. Okay, then we have seduko you all know how to play seduko PBS kids this is a really good one to use in school too it's free so that if you're teaching like early Elementary or Like Preschool or you're at home with your kids there's so many articles and fun things to do on here it's car The Collector I'm going to mute it with my mute button okay we muted the volume so there's a ton of different games you can do there's also like um articles that your kids can watch too my kids love this app so really fun PBS Kids download that one use it in the classroom use it at home let's go to another app. Okay, the next one I want to show you is the Calendar app I'm obsessed with using calendars cuz I love to organize things um this app is super super easy to use and uh and if you're doing like a home like a calendar time in the morning every day with your students this is a really cool app that you can just click it and you can talk about about the days of the week the months of the year what day it is and you can also like oh this is kind of cool you November 28th and it tells us it's 8 days away from November 20th so there's a lot of things you can do there's a lot of settings I won't go into detail of that but you can also load this into your whiteboard too okay let's find we're going to x out and next we're going to find the um calculator here it is here's our calculator app you just use it like any calculator there is great to have right here on your Smartboard it's really useful so okay I hope you got a ton of really good ideas of how to use this as a teacher a homeschool mom even a business person the list of ways to use this seriously goes on and on and on so next I want to read off some of the key features of this Smartboard so that you have all of the knowledge you need when if you want to purchase the Smartboard.

Key Features of the HKMLC Smartboard

So the screen, it's actually a 4K UHD screen, it like I said it has 128 GB for storage and 8 GB of RAM which is actually really really good for a Smartboard this Smartboard specifically is the 55 in Smartboard which I think is the perfect size I really do I think any smaller would be okay but like in a classroom I think that this 55 in would be really great so that all your students can see the Smartboard clearly. Another really cool thing about this Smartboard is that it actually has 20 touch points which is really cool that literally means that you could have 20 kids up here touching it and they could still be drawn Ling or doing whatever activity they're supposed to do that's pretty impressive because most spart boards only have one touch point or two touch points the speaker system on the Smartboard is really really good it can get really loud which is really great especially in a loud classroom I wasn't expecting the speakers to be as good as they really are here like my husband was like we're going to take this outside and we're going to have a party outside maybe we can even have a movie night outside with the kids like there's a lot you can do personally and professionally with this Smartboard.

A Walkaround of the Device

Lastly, I kind of just want to take you around the Smartboard to show you everything. Um, so here is the back of the Smartboard. It easily, easily was put onto this stand. Um, we just needed an two people to lift it. Um, here's the side, here's the front, so on the front here we have these buttons, so we have the power button, type c plugins, HDMI plugins, touch USB and another USB port which you can never have enough USB ports. We also have the speakers here which like I said the speakers are phenomenal like I'm extremely happy with it. Okay, then we have on this this side over here let's get you all so you can see it okay so it comes with this plug in here and I just plugged it into the wall right there and then we have um it says it's a let's see here make sure you all can see it says it's a rs232 plugin so actually I think my monitor has that kind of plugin so you could maybe plug in you could make this like a second monitor honestly there's an audio output and then there's poile I think that's how you say it and then there's another plug in here it's labeled RJ45 um Ln I believe that you can put your ether ethernet cord here um so yeah it has a lot of plugins which is really great because a lot of smartboards like this you have to buy extension like cords that can will plug into other cords so I absolutely love this I love the USB ports there is so much to offer with this Smartboard like if you buy this you will not regret it I promise. Um, right here let's zoom on in this is the the name of the Smartboard is let's get it focused here HKMLC highly recommend it this is the 55 inch love it couldn't be more happy and I will also make sure to link the stand below also.
