Part 2 HKMLC Smart Board, Elite 55 Inch Interactive WhiteBoard for Teachers and Homeschool Parents

Hi guys, I hope you learned a ton from part one, but guess what? Part two has even more included. In part two, I'm going to continue talking about how you can use this Smartboard as a teacher, as a homeschool parent, as a business owner, as a working person, literally as a human. There are so many uses, so let's get into it.

Measuring Tools

Measuring Tools

Part two: our next tool here is measuring. There are a ton of different little measuring things on here. The first one is a ruler. Look at that! You can teach your kids how to measure with a ruler on here. Let's see what else we have. So, we also have this kind of tool here. You can move it around, have kids measure different lines, or tell them to create a line that is 4 in long. We also have one of these tools. I can't think of the name right now, oh my gosh! But anyways, um, they can use this to measure a circle.

Inserting Files & Media

Inserting Files & Media

Okay, so moving on from the measuring part. So here we have where you can insert things into your whiteboard that are from different locations, like your HDMI port or any of the plugins that fit into the Smartboard. Then we have this kind of organizational graph. Literally everything, anything you could ever think of, I swear is in the Smartboard. Next, we have where you can insert different like PDFs or different files that you have uploaded on here. So here's some of the files that I've used with my own kids. Um, here's one of our math warm-ups. You can insert any kind of worksheet onto here that you want. So you can drag this window or do whatever you want with it, okay? And then if you want to x out, the x is just down here. Next, you are able to insert different article If you upload them to here also. Then we have the internet. So if your kit, if your students need to Google something quick, they can click here and Google whatever they need to Google while they're using the Whiteboard tool. Then this is really cool, like I showed you earlier, the voting app. You can add that right into your Smartboard.

Voting App and Feature Customization

Voting App and Feature Customization

So, um, again, you enter whatever the subject is and then your options. So you can add that to your whiteboard. Okay, so we'll go and delete all this to start over. Okay, so this is kind of cool too. You can change this feature. So this little the hands down here means that you can use as many fingers as you want which that's always a struggle with my four-year-old because a lot of times he'll accidentally put his hand on like on the iPad and then he can't draw anymore. Oh let's change that back. He'll put his hand here and then also want to draw at the same time and then it doesn't work. But here he can put on all of his fingers and it'll still work. So that is a really cool feature too that a lot of smartboards do not include. This is really cool too. You can click here and change this and it lets you make your picture smaller or if you want to make it bigger, you can do that. You just pinch it kind of like on your phone. So that's a really cool feature too.

Split Screen Functionality

Split Screen Functionality

Okay, let's move on to the split screen, which this is fantastic. So you can actually use up to four different screens. So if you want four different students to work at the exact same time, you can click four screens here and it changes it to four different screens and all of the kids can draw the exact same time, which is fantastic. We'll go back and then if you want, you can just do a single split screen or you can even do three split screens. I have three kids so the three split screens is where it's at.

Whiteboard Settings

Whiteboard Settings

Okay, next we will go through all of these settings here. So first we have new which is where if you want to start a brand new whiteboard then you just click here. Then it's asking you if you want to save this. So you can click yes or no. We'll just click no cuz we don't need to save that. Um, so here's another blank screen. Let's go back here. Um, we can click open which if we want to open previous whiteboards, this is where you would go. Let's open one of these. So we opened this file. This was obviously my children's beautiful drawing that they saved. It's just really easy to go back and forth between a blank screen and between other whiteboards that you've saved. Let's go back to the three dots. Let's open a brand new one because we don't need that mess there. So then we have save, save as, and I love this because you can save it as a PDF or an image or you can just save it to the Smartboard. Um, it's really nice to be able to save things as PDFs, especially with my students in the classroom because then we can print things or there's a lot of uses of PDFs as you guys know. Then you can also upload it to the cloud if you want. You can scan it. You can email it to yourself or to a parent. Then we have settings right here. So this is kind of where the background settings are where you can change it to different things. Let's actually make it a blank screen. There we go. Okay, so there you have it. That's kind of the gist of the fun whiteboard tool that I absolutely love. It's so much fun to just draw on it to get back to the home screen cuz we're going to go through a different app that you will love as a teacher.

Navigation and Control Panel

Navigation and Control Panel

You will click this little arrow right here and then you have a lot of options here and this Arrow actually is always here. This is how you can kind of navigate the Smartboard here. So anyways, click the arrow, we have a home button which takes you back home to this main area. Then we have this which is kind of cool. So this is like all of the different tabs or apps that you have open and I like to have multiple things open cuz I'm always switching back and forth between things. Um, to x out of something you just swipe it up to get rid of it. Okay, so let's go back to our tab here. Um, we have the drawing tool. So if you want to just like draw on here like say you have a random thing open and you just want to be able to draw on it rather than like dragging or tapping, you just click the draw button and that's a really useful tool also and then you just click the X to go back and it deletes it. Then we have right here, we have the control panel. So let's go through this. Okay, so I brought you closer so that you can see the control panel. It's right here and then you have all of these options. So your first option option you can use an ethernet cord which you may or may not still have one of those to get really good Wi-Fi. You might want to actually consider an ethernet cord. I believe that's how you say it. Um, then we have our Wi-Fi. It's super easy to hook up your Wi-Fi, you just type in your password and you're good to go. If you have a hot spot you can connect it. Bluetooth this is really cool because I actually connected my Bluetooth headphones to this and was listening to some music through this. So that was that's kind of a cool one. We have screenshot so if you want to screenshot this whole thing you can. Vision Care let's see what that is oh this is kind of cool so if you want to change if you want it like more tinted which honestly maybe you'd be be able to see better on your screen with it tinted so maybe we'll leave it like that okay then we have touch sensitivity so if you don't want it as sensitive you'll click that button if you don't really care then just leave that unlicked um Eco this will just readjust like the brightness and things like that to use the least amount of power possible um then we have the sidebar you can either swipe you can choose to have it where you click it or swipe it I like to click it um volume you can adjust the volume here by the way the Smartboard has really good volume I've been really really impressed with the volume of this Smartboard okay then we have the brightness so I usually keep the brightness up when I'm teaching but for you guys for your article s we'll keep it down a little bit and then you have all of your apps here. Next I think since we're kind of exploring the settings we'll go to settings here.

Customizing Smartboard Settings

Customizing Smartboard Settings

Okay so here also is where you can connect your Wi-Fi or your ethernet cord if that's how you say it um and your spot Hot Spot then under General we have custom so this is fun this is where you can change the background you have two different options for themes so this is kind of where you like your apps if you like them right here you can you will choose this if you like your apps on the bottom then you can choose there then we have wallpapers you can pick from a lot of different wallpaper it's a lot of like settings and snow and stuff like that there is also an auto Loop setting that if you want it to just keep changing the wallpaper you can do that. Okay next we'll go to the sound settings so here you can adjust the volume see there's a few different places where you can adjust the volume or you can just use your handy dandy remote which I love to use it also like if you if your kids like to adjust the volume too much you can like make it where the max volume is lower um we're going to keep ours up though then you can balance the volume if you want it from the left speaker or the right speaker we'll put that hopefully in the middle again the sound mode there's different sound modes so you can change like the base the treble um everything like that so there's a lot of different options oh cool there's a even a classroom option I love that oops okay so let's go back to settings you can also get to settings through your apps which here it is there it is we's scoot you back a little bit so we went through all of these let's go back to General let's go to display you can change your brightness if you want it brighter or less bright um standard bright brilliant custom we'll do standard okay then we have Compass which honestly I'm not really sure exactly what all of this is but maybe yall are smarter than me and can figure that out we have gesture interaction so then we have activating the compass you press for five with Five Fingers um there's a sleep and awake mode so for that you can double tap with two fingers to lock the screen or wake it up if you have that setting on um screen down it says swipe down with three fingers to move the screen down okay then we have screen recording settings so you can change the change the resolution you can also change the media sound microphone sound or both of them at the exact same time let's move on to device make sure we can see it there so here's your Bluetooth if you're trying to search for something you can turn your Bluetooth on I'm just going to turn it off for now.

Printer, Microphone and Time Settings

Printer, Microphone and Time Settings

Um printer this is really awesome I've actually already printed one of my kids drawings on here and some of their math work so you just set up your printer here we have the microphone and camera too. Next we have the channel and then we also have systems so the date and time I did when I first got the Smartboard I did have to adjust this um because it was a different time zone and it had like the month and the date like backwards so it was super easy to adjust here um the format that we use here in America is this one month day year and then you can change it from 24-hour clock or a 12-hour time format here so super easy you click your time zone here too it's very very easy to use and easy to adjust all of these settings.

Language and Power Options

Language and Power Options

Okay let's go on to language you can choose an Android keyboard or a smart IM which I'm not totally sure what that is but that's what I've been using and it's been completely fine um you can change your language to whatever language you speak I have English here power status so here are your different Power statuses we have power on standby and then last whatever you chose last um next we have Auto sleep so if you want to turn that on you can make it so that it automatically sleeps which honestly I do want this on just in case I accidentally leave it on so we'll do 5 minutes after 5 minutes it sleeps but you can change it to whatever time you want so let's move that back to five okay then automatic power off after no signal after sleep you can schedule your power on and power offs say that at exactly 840 is when your first class is you could turn it on at 8:40 temperature detection so this is really cool it actually keeps track of the temperature of the Smartboard just in just so it doesn't overheat that's never happened before with all of my use with the Smartboard which is a lot it's never overheated it also could have to do with like maybe if you have your Smartboard in the sun maybe it'll shut off if it's if it gets too hot so that's kind of a cool setting so that you don't ruin it and so yeah the high temperature protection we have that on then we have wired Network wake up we have human body induction Awakening so this is really cool so you can turn this on when people approach the screen it will wake up automatically so if you want to wait till your students to come in you could have this setting on and then as soon as they walk by the board it turns it on.

System Updates and Security

System Updates and Security

Okay system update over here I I can't remember which setting it was on for the server but I had to to change this to North America um you can click here to like refresh to see if you need a new update um right now my system is up to date so that's great system security you can choose how you want your screen to lock so right now I have lock screen upon sleep so whenever it goes to sleep it automatically locks it you can do 10 seconds after it sleeps 1 minute 10 minutes so on then you have an option to lock your screen if you're using a USB which later on I'm going to show you all the different things that you can insert into this Smartboard like HDMI things or USB stuff like that okay so Channel permissions we have app lock so if you don't want your kiddos to be on certain apps you can click that you can click this one off if you want it's allow unknown sources to install thirdparty apps then we have about so this can this will just tell you all about your system it'll tell you how much storage space you have available so right now I have 81% available which is really awesome because I did download a ton of apps that also use a ton of gigabytes so that's really cool to see and here's the name of this device okay so that is kind of like the main settings super easy to adjust and a lot of it's just common sense which really makes it easy not complicated at all next I want to go through and show you some more of the awesome apps that you can use as a teacher. The first thing that I want to show you is an example of just putting a PDF worksheet up here on your Smartboard.

PDF Worksheet Example

PDF Worksheet Example

So I'm going to go to my email so here's my email um here is a PDF that I actually emailed myself this is a color by coins worksheet here's my color by coins worksheet I'm just going to scroll down here you can zoom in or out I kind of want to zoom out further here is a color by coins worksheet this is actually something I created for my own kids here we have you will color the penny orange nickel green dime red and quarter blue and then if you want your kiddos to be able to color on here or use the pen tool just click this Arrow here and click this and then we can change the color it's already on red so we're just going to keep it red so I think that that was the dime so we're going to have you'll have your kids color the dime just like that all the different dimes or else is a dime down here and so on um then we can change the color to Orange let's change it to Orange here and orange is pennies so let's find a penny here are some pennies here you'll color that orange see how like interactive this is and how much fun you can have with your own own kids and your own students doing this this is like seriously having this Smartboard is huge like it makes such a difference in my students learning and my homeschool kiddos their learning also it's I can't I can go on and on about how great it is like this is fun I just want to stand here and do this all day let's do another one let's do a nickel is supposed to be green here are some ni here's a nickel let's color that green here's another nickel color it green green and then lastly our quarter is supposed to be blue so I'm going to go down here and change it to blue color in the quarters blue and so on so really really fun activity you can actually find this activity in the link of this article Also let's do another activity so that you can see how awesome this Smartboard really is and how interactive it is so we're going to x out of this go over here let's go to here and go back to our email so here's my email here let me find the email quick that I sent the other one in.

More Activity Examples

More Activity Examples

Okay so I clicked the PDF that I want to open you have a lot of different options of what to open with we're going to do PDF edit but I've kind of clicked around and you can kind of Click any of them they all pretty much work the same so um here is one of the math worksheets so I actually have a lot of leveled math worksheets and so these are my favorite cuz I taught special education math which was the best ever I had so much fun doing it but anyway anyways I created these math warm-ups so there's three different levels here's the first level that I'm just going to show you as an example um let's move you in a little bit closer to make sure you can see so here we have Circle the name of the coin so the first thing we're going to do cuz if you don't like come over here and click to the drawing tool you're just going to drag this up and down so we need to click here over on the side and then you're going to click the drawing tool and we're going to change the color to Red cuz I just think that's easier to see Circle the name of the coin so we're going to have our students circle Penny and again you can grab this you can grab this activity in the link of this article okay we have 5:00 is the time then it says write how much time has passed so here we have 5:00 and we have 11:00 so I like to count the hours with my students to see how much time has passed so we have 1 2 3 four five six because it's 11 o' we have had six hours go by hopefully your students have better handwriting than me okay fill in the missing numbers we have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 then on the next line we have 12 13 14 15 so this is level one as the levels go on it obviously gets harder then we have addition your students can write in the answers here and so on so let's move on to level two there's an X down in this corner we're going to x out and it's going to erase it and then we're going to move on to level two and then we're going to click our pen tool again add the value of the money so this is 22 cents 22 cents or you can write it however you want then we have 9005 you can write it there and so on so it's kind of similar you just have your kiddos write out the answers let's move it up to level three we have let's click our drawing tool again um students can write their name also so then we have we count up the coins so it looks like this is 25 35 45 45 cents and the banana cost 28 cents so do we have enough money yes students will Circle Yes again they will write the time here they'll write how much time is pass they'll write the fraction right here which is a half or you can do 24s and then we have multiplication and division so I just wanted to show you these worksheets so that you can see how literally you can do any kind of PDF file or any picture you can do any kind of workbook on here.
